Welcome to Chwarae Teg - thanks for dropping in to visit us

As a charity, since 1992 we’ve been working to help ensure that women in Wales can enter the workplace, develop their skills and build rewarding careers.

We do this because women entering and progressing at work face a number of barriers that specifically hinder their career paths.

These include the gender pay gap, rigid workplace practices that are out of kilter with the demands of modern life, a continued expectation that caring is primarily a woman’s role, the persistence of gender stereotypes and the significant underrepresentation of women in senior roles in both the public and private sectors.

To find out more take a look at our research “A Woman’s Place” which identifies five key issues that impact on women’s progression in the workplace. Click here to visit "A Woman's Place" .

The work we undertake also fully supports the economic need in Wales to make full use of women’s skills.

With women making-up the majority of the population in Wales, and as a truly democratic society, this imbalance has to be redressed. Not just to be fair to women, but also to ensure that in our small country we develop and encourage the best talent, regardless of gender.

At Chwarae Teg we work to redress the balance based on our vision to help develop:

A Wales where women achieve and prosper

To work towards achieving our vision we have three missions, each tackling the issues women face from a different direction. This allows us to take positive action to directly support women, to champion the adoption of highly effective modern workplaces and to work with and influence decision makers, academics and industry bodies.

You can find out more about our missions here

We are passionate about the work we do and we love sharing our passion.

We also love making new friends

If like us you believe in developing a society where we embrace women’s talents and allow them to flourish fairly and appropriately in the workplace, please show your support by becoming a friend of Chwarae Teg.

Your support will be truly appreciated and you’re just one click away from becoming our friend!

We are only just taking the wraps off our new vision and missions and our next job is to refocus Chwarae Teg to help us achieve these goals.

We’re excited to be entering a time of significant change and throughout 2014 we’ll be undertaking a range of new activity.

Our website will also be subject to continual updates and re-development, so to ensure you stay up-to-date with our latest news please:

Chwarae Teg

Chwarae Teg is a well known expression in Wales that means "Fair Play". And while it's commonplace here we understand that not everyone will know what it means or how to pronounce it. In fact people from across different regions of Wales even pronounce it differently.

So we've put together this little audio clip of some people saying it to help!
