Sometimes it only takes a small helping hand to bring your ambitions to life and that’s why we’re delighted to offer the Chwarae Teg bursaries.

There are three bursaries you can apply for. These are:

  1. The Second Chances bursary – ideal if you are looking to return to education with a value of up to £500

  2. The Helping Hand bursary that you can use to help fund your personal development with a value of up to £500

  3. My New Business bursary ideal if you’re setting-up your first business venture with a package of services with a value of at least £500.

The Second Chances Bursary

This bursary is given to a woman whose conventional education didn’t provide her, for whatever reason, with the qualifications needed to fully pursue her chosen path.
Second Chances offers any such woman access to a bursary of £500 to be used to help make it easier to return to education including.

  • Studying for formal qualification like GCSE’s or A-Levels

  • Undertaking vocational qualifications such as NVQ's

The Helping Hand Bursary

This bursary is given to a woman who wants to develop her career path and goals. It provides up to £500 to assist in undertaking a personal development activity as part of or that leads to employment, progression in employment, a change in employment or career planning.

This personal development activity could include:

  • Confidence building

  • Self-esteem improvement

  • Career planning

The type of personal development activity supported by the bursary does not have to be an educational course in the formal sense.

Eligibility for the Second Chances and Helping Hands Bursaries
To be eligible for these bursaries you must be:

  • Female

  • Not currently in formal education

  • Able to identify a course of study/vocation or a personal development opportunity

  • Able to tell us how the bursary will make the course of study or personal development opportunity easier

  • Able to tell us how completing the qualification or undertaking personal development will contribute to gaining or changing employment or career planning

  • Willing to participate in relevant PR opportunities including photographs

  • Willing to participate in evaluation or longitudinal studies regardless of whether your application is successful.

My New Business Bursary

This bursary is given to a woman starting a business for the first time and offers a package of support designed to give her business the best possible start and is based in Chwarae Teg’s Cardiff office.

It includes a package of over £500 worth of support designed to give your business a flying start that includes 6 months of desk space in Chwarae Teg’s office space based in Cardiff. This bursary also gives the recipient access to on-going expert, HR, accountancy, social media, web and marketing advice.

The desk space is included in Chwarae Teg’s innovative fledgling business space where up to 3 other women will be working.

Eligibility for the "My New Business Bursary" To be eligible for this bursary you must be:

  • Female
  • In the process of setting-up your first business

  • In need of desk space in an office environment

  • Willing to work in an environment with other similar women

Please note the closing date for applications for this year’s bursaries is 11th July 2014

Applications for both bursaries will be reviewed by 31st July 2014

All applicants will be informed by post whether their application has been successful or otherwise within a week of the judges’ final decision.
