Current Activity:  Four Themes towards the Future

Chwarae Teg works to further the economic development of women inWales, currently focusing on four specific themes of activity.

These themes reflect the areas where we know that there is the greatest need for further research, understanding, promotion and positive support to achieve the most effective and lasting benefits to women and to the Welsh economy.

The four themes are:

By clicking on the theme titles you can read more about our activities under each, including our work under our major Agile Nation project (funded by the European Social Fund and the Welsh Government). Women’s Roles in the Welsh Workforce

The position of women in the workforce is constantly changing, and we want to be sure that we are focusing on the right issues to make real progress.

This year we are undertaking research into women’s roles and contributions to the Welsh workforce. Previous studies were commissioned in 1996 and 2002 and the publication of this latest research in Autumn 2012 will help mark the 20th Anniversary of Chwarae Teg.

The research will focus on employment status, career progression, career segregation, educational attainment, occupational choices, access to childcare and flexible working, the gender pay gap, and employment, unemployment and economic inactivity rates.

This research is a significant part of the Chwarae Teg work programme and will inform our future plans. It will be used to provide good advice to businesses and government to help with strategy setting and policy making, all with the aim of maximising the contribution of women to the Welsh economy.
