State of the Nation

30th January 2020

State of the Nation brings together stakeholders to discuss Wales’ performance in relation to achieving gender equality. The event will map the progress we are making and provide a platform to discuss new research that can lead and inform debate.

The event will run from 10.00 – 14.30
Community House,
Eton Road,
Newport.

This year’s event will include the publication of our second State of the Nation report, which outlines the progress made in Wales in relation to women in the economy, women represented and women at risk.

In addition, this year we will focus on women’s experiences of poverty. Poverty rates remain unacceptably high in Wales, and public policy responses have often failed to recognise the different risks and experiences of poverty between women and men. We will present the findings from our latest research on poverty and facilitate a discussion between policy-makers and ‘experts by experience’ to understand the solutions needed to tackle poverty in Wales.

Refreshments will be provided throughout the day so please let us know about any dietary requirements.

Crèche facilities may be made available, subject to need. If childcare would present a barrier to your attendance and you would be interested in crèche facilities please let us know. We will confirm whether a crèche can be made available by the 17th January.

We really hope you can attend our State of the Nation event, and be part of a crucial discussion around how we can achieve gender equality in Wales.
