Education and skills development offers a great opportunity for change in Wales. By giving women the opportunity to learn new skills, take on different roles and move up the career ladder a huge section of the population would be active in the Welsh economy for the first time.
In collaboration with the Welsh Assembly Government and a host of other organisations Chwarae Teg is helping to break down the barriers facing women who want to develop their skills and access training and employment opportunities.
Chwarae Teg delivers a range of actions across its Education and Skills portfolio.
Chwarae Teg seeks to promote equality within education and training by:
During 2005, Chwarae Teg partnered the Equal Opportunities Commission to undertake research into "Gender Equality in Modern Apprenticeships in Wales". The report was launched by the Minister for Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills.
Recently, we have prepared a proposal outlining the potential initiatives to deliver equality actions arising from the Welsh Assembly Government's 14-19 Learning Pathways Action Plan.
Chwarae Teg recently managed the Ready Set Go project to encourage more women to consider training and work opportunities in non-traditional sectors. For more information on the project please visit the Ready Set Go section of our website.
