Tell us about your organisation.
Plan International UK is a children’s charity. We strive to advance children’s rights and equality for girls all over the world.
We recognise the power and potential of every single child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it is girls who are most affected. Our Because I am a Girl campaign is a global movement that’s taking action to see a world that values girls, promotes their rights and ends injustice.
Why are you supporting the awards?
Plan International UK are investing £1 million in Wales with a brand new project, Champions of Wales, to support boys and girls in schools and communities across Wales to champion girls’ rights and gender equality. We’re thrilled to support Wales’s leading charity for gender equality to showcase amazing women across Wales.
Why does gender equality matter to you?
Gender equality is critical to ensure Wales is a prosperous and equal society where everyone can prosper. At Plan International UK we’re working to ensure young people understand their rights and can advocate for change, creating grassroots movements to ensure no one is limited by their gender.
Why do you support the work of Chwarae Teg?
Our mission is closely aligned to that of Chwarae Teg, and we are proud to support these fantastic awards, showcasing inspirational individuals across Wales. By championing girls and women, together we can become a collective voice for gender equality.
