I am thrilled to welcome you to the seventh Chwarae Teg Womenspire Awards, a ceremony which showcases and highlights incredible achievements from women across Wales!
We are live in the wonderful Pierhead Building in Cardiff Bay and live in people’s living rooms thanks to our media partners, ITV Cymru Wales, and the host of sponsors who are supporting us this year, including our headline sponsors – Vauxhall Finance.
Together, via our first hybrid Womenspire, we will bring you an epic night of online inspirational stories, entertainment and celebrate our Womenspire 2022 finalists in style!
As we celebrate our 30th year at Chwarae Teg, our vision remains for a fairer Wales where all women achieve and prosper, and every day we work to inspire, lead and deliver on gender equality.
We want to empower women to reach their full potential and become as successful, as visible and as influential as men, across all sectors of the economy, society and public life regardless of their background, social status or location.
The last year has seen us continue to make a real impact through our programmes, research, initiatives and events. We have worked with hundreds of women and businesses through the Agile Nation 2 programme, FairPlay Employer service and collaboration projects.
All our work ensures that we are working towards a future where women, men and non-binary people will experience equal outcomes in their lives, and this is more important now than ever. Womenspire is a true celebration of remarkable accomplishments in Wales and shines a light on those most deserving of praise.
Everyone nominated and shortlisted as a finalist is responsible for changing lives for the better. We can only focus on a small part of what these amazing individuals are doing but their strength and courage really knows no bounds.
There will be winners tonight, but every finalist is a wonderful achiever in their own right, who will inspire future generations. They are role models who will help shape the future and lead the way for others thanks to their hard work and dedication.
As well as our 10 award categories for individuals we have an award for a business or organisation who is working with Chwarae Teg through our FairPlay Employer service - taking action to improve diversity and enable women to progress and thrive in the workplace. Good luck to you all.
Please enjoy the evening, follow along on social media and make it a true celebration, and remember - gender equality isn’t just a nice to have, it’s a must have!
