Welsh workers are clocking up some seven hours and six minutes of unpaid overtime every week. Wales TUC said the extra hours equate to £81.22 a week, or £4,224 a year, more in their pay packets. If workers did all their unpaid overtime in one fell swoop at the beginning of the year they wouldn't get a wage packet until Friday, February 23, according to TUC calculations.
This is why unions have declared a work your proper hours day. They warn emplyees to remind bosses of their extra unpaid work by taking a proper lunch break and going home on time. Official figures show across Wales staff did £723m worth of unpaid overtime last year.
