Chwarae Teg Board Announcement: Cerys Furlong to stand down as Chief Executive

As colleagues, allies, and friends of Cerys for more than half a decade, the board at Chwarae Teg were naturally saddened to receive Cerys’ decision recently to stand down as Chief Executive of Chwarae Teg. However, we understand her reasoning and appreciate it has been a difficult decision for her to make.

The board would like to thank Cerys for her leadership, commitment, and dedication to Chwarae Teg over the last half a decade, and fundamentally, for helping thousands of women to progress their careers in Wales.

Cerys has made immeasurable positive differences to the organisation. We are immensely proud of what Chwarae Teg has achieved under Cerys’ leadership, particularly the Gender Equality Review: Deeds Not Words, and for her tireless efforts during the pandemic with all its associated challenges.

We are obviously sad to see Cerys go but we have no doubt her successes will be built upon, as Chwarae Teg continues to play a leading role in building a Wales where women can truly achieve and prosper.

We require time to fill the significant hole that Cerys will leave within the organisation and will be appointing a senior individual in the interim to lead the transition to the end of current projects.

We wish Cerys the very best of luck in whatever she decides to do next and look forward to her long allyship.
