Tell us about your organisation

Race Equality First has 45 years of experience as the recognised lead body in Wales for tackling discrimination and hate crime and promoting the message that race equality is a human right. We support victims of hate crime and discrimination through a dedicated casework service and we provide equality training for organisations along with advocacy for ethnic minority people experiencing barriers to access public services. All of our work feeds into our commitment to researching and campaigning to combat racism and hate crime in Wales.

Why are you supporting the awards?

We have worked with Chwarae Teg this year and in previous years to encourage more ethnic minority women to celebrate their achievements. We want to see the talents of all women and girls in Wales being recognised as ethnic minority people are often under-represented amongst the finalists of many awards in Wales.

Why does gender equality matter to you?

Equality for all underpins the ethos of Race Equality First and is the cornerstone of our organisation. We want to see a society where all individuals have equal rights without discrimination based on any personal characteristic they may possess.

Why do you support the work of Chwarae Teg?

Our goals are closely aligned as third sector equality partners in Wales. Chwarae Teg provides leadership and an influential voice for women in Wales. In the same way that Chwarae Teg champions equality and empowerment of women and girls in Wales, Race Equality First is committed to creating a fair and just society where everyone is valued for who they are.
