Tell us about your organisation.

A joint venture between SBM Offshore, global specialists in floating offshore energy, and renewable energy project development company, Cierco, Floventis Energy is at the forefront of the global transition to large scale green power generation from floating offshore wind.

Floventis was awarded the agreement for lease for the Llŷr developments in the Celtic Sea by the Crown Estate in July 2021 subject to a Habitats Regulation Assessment. This allows Floventis as the developer to progress with environmental assessment and surveys, secure access to the grid and seek planning consent through the statutory processes.

Located 31km off the coast of Pembrokeshire, the Llŷr Developments (known as Llŷr 1 and Llŷr 2) will showcase the next generation in clean renewable offshore renewable energy technology ahead of industrialisation. They will power in the region of 200,000 homes with 200MW of clean, green energy once operational by 2027.

Why are you supporting the awards?

The Womenspire awards are a fantastic celebration of the remarkable accomplishments of women across Wales and we are excited to be part of the journey. At Floventis Energy we are proud community ambassadors, and we want to help build a prosperous and thriving Wales where everyone has an equal opportunity to be part of the nation’s success story. The Womenspire awards provide the opportunity for organisations such as ours to demonstrate our public support for the work that Chwarae Teg does, day in day out, to create a fairer Wales where women achieve and prosper.

Why does gender equality matter to you?

The floating offshore wind industry presents huge opportunities for our current and future generations, and we want to ensure that gender equality is at the heart of our sector. Floventis Energy is actively involved in a number of STEM programmes encouraging greater take-up by girls and women to help address the gaps that exist, helping to deliver a talented STEM workforce that is fair and equal for all. With more women involved in the floating offshore wind industry we can help further innovation and better represent the needs of society.

Why do you support the work of Chwarae Teg?

As a business committed to playing a part in a fairer and more prosperous society for all, we see the value that Chwarae Teg delivers for Wales and for our communities. We are looking forward to working with the organisation long term, on exciting initiatives to support girls and women and, as an organisation, to become a FairPlay Employer.

We all have a responsibility to promote and deliver gender equality in Wales but it is particularly important that we lead from the front of the exciting new floating offshore wind industry; promoting opportunity and embracing equality for all from day one. These awards provide a platform to celebrate the work of Chwarae Teg and demonstrate our commitment to creating a fairer Wales where women achieve and prosper.
